Terms of sale

These terms apply when you place an order with Mukluk Wood Stoves Pty Ltd ("Mukluk", "we", "us"). Plain language first; legal precision where it matters. Paying a deposit means you agree to these terms.
1. The order
Your order is for a hand-built wood stove described on the product page (the Mukluk Small) in the finish you select. The website shows specifications and pricing in Australian dollars, including GST.
An order is formed when you complete checkout and we accept your deposit. We may decline an order (for example if we cannot ship to your location, or if a price was clearly wrong) and we will refund your deposit in full if we do.
2. Pricing & payment
- Deposit at checkout: $500 AUD, taken via Stripe (card or Afterpay). This holds your build slot.
- Balance: the rest of the order total is due before we ship, or at pickup. We email an invoice with payment instructions about a week before your build is ready.
- Freight: list prices are quoted on the basis of standard delivery to mainland and Tasmanian street addresses. A small number of very regional locations, islands, or sites that need special delivery (for example Hiab unload) may cost more. We only ship on those terms after we have contacted you, explained the situation, and you have agreed. See Shipping & refunds.
- Local pickup discount: ticking pickup at checkout reduces your order total by $200 (no freight). Your deposit stays the same; the discount comes off the balance.
- All prices include GST. We will give you a tax invoice once your order is fully paid.
3. Lead time
Stoves are built to order. The site may show a target month (for example from your deposit date plus our current workshop window, roughly 8–10 weeks to dispatch). That date is our best guess in good faith, not a firm contract promise. Queues move, suppliers slip, and sometimes things run long. If your stove looks like it will miss the timing we have indicated, we will contact you as early as we reasonably can to reset expectations and agree what happens next.

4. Cancellation & refunds
Cooling-off: you can cancel any time in the first 14 days after paying your deposit, for any reason, and we refund the deposit in full to the original payment method.
After 14 days the deposit is non-refundable, because we will have ordered steel and started shop work for your stove. You can still cancel, but you won't get the deposit back.
Once the balance is paid and the stove is crated for freight, the order is shipped on the standard Shipping & refunds terms.

6. Use, installation & safety
Mukluk stoves are solid-fuel appliances. They must be installed by a licensed solid-fuel installer in accordance with AS/NZS 2918 (or equivalent). You are responsible for hearth, flue, clearances, heat shielding, smoke alarms and any council, body corporate or insurer approvals.
Mukluk stoves are not currently emissions-tested or Clean Air-listed. They may not be permitted in some local government areas without additional approval.
You must not use the stove for any purpose other than burning seasoned, untreated firewood.
7. Limitation of liability
Subject to the Australian Consumer Law and any other rights you have that cannot be excluded, our total liability for any loss arising from your purchase is limited, at our choice, to repairing or replacing the stove, or refunding what you paid for it.
8. Privacy
Your personal information is handled under our Privacy Policy.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
