Mukluk Wood Stoves Pty Ltd ("Mukluk", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy covers what we collect when you contact us or place an order, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. What we collect
When you contact us or place an order we may collect:
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- Your delivery address (only when you order a stove for shipping).
- Order details: stove size, finish, pickup or freight, totals.
- Information you choose to share by email, for example photos of your space when asking for a fit-check.
- Basic technical information from your browser (IP address, device type, pages visited) via standard server logs.
We do not store your full credit card number. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we only ever see the last four digits, the brand, and a transaction reference.
2. Why we collect it
We use your personal information to:
- Take and fulfil orders (build, crate, ship or hand over your stove).
- Reply to your enquiries and provide customer support.
- Send transactional emails: order confirmation, build updates, balance invoice, dispatch notification.
- Comply with our legal and tax obligations (we have to keep invoice records for at least 5 years under Australian tax law).
- Improve the website by understanding which pages people use.
We do not run a marketing newsletter and we do not sell or rent your personal information.
3. Who we share it with
- Stripe: to process card and Afterpay payments. See their privacy policy.
- Freight carriers: to deliver your stove. They receive your name, delivery address and phone number.
- Email and hosting providers: to operate this website and our inbox.
- Government agencies: only where required by law.
4. Cookies and analytics
This site uses a small number of essential cookies to keep your shopping cart and checkout working. We may also use lightweight, privacy-respecting analytics to count page views.
5. How we keep it safe
We store personal information on reputable cloud services with access limited to people who need it. Card data is handled by Stripe and never lands on our servers. We will tell you, and the OAIC where required, if we have a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your order records for at least 7 years to meet Australian tax and consumer law requirements. Casual emails that don't relate to an order are deleted within a few years of our last contact, or earlier on request.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your personal information. Email hello@muklukwoodstoves.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will always tell you when the current version came into effect.
